President, Portfolio Management Association of Canada


Katie Walmsley is President of the Portfolio Management Association of Canada (PMAC) and is responsible for directing the Association’s overall strategy, including federal and provincial advocacy, education, compliance support and other member services. Prior to her appointment at PMAC in 2006, Katie held several senior leadership positions in both the insurance industry and the association/not-for-profit sector. She served 10 years with Pilot Insurance Company (a subsidiary of Aviva Canada) in a variety of management positions, including Sr. Vice President, Corporate Development with responsibility for Strategic Planning, Human Resources, Communications and e-Business. Her non-profit/association management experience includes two years with the Insurance Institute of Canada as Sr. Director Western and Atlantic Operations and five years with the Hincks Dellcrest Treatment Centre as Human Resources Director.


Katie received a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in economics from Trinity College at the University of Toronto. She is a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP). Katie is a past Director of the Canadian Capital Markets Association and of Ryerson University’s Financial Institutions Advisory Council (FIAC). Outside of the industry, Katie serves on the Board of Directors for Donalda Club, Board of Trustees of St. Hilda’s College, President and Co-Founder of the registered charity, Second Kicks and past President of Camp Couchiching.
